Co-op Bop
Hey McKinleyget out of the park there's a party going on at the Co-op after dark. Hey Sunflower I'll see you there, bring your crystal baby and don't be a square. Virgil's going, Spider too, Johnny's gonna be there baby why am't you? Let's go! She's swinging 18 lbs. of tofu at the Co-op. Watch out baby, it might hit you at the Co-op. We got a 9 Ib. cheese block at the Co-op. You'll be doing the Birkenstock rock at the Co-op. At the Co-op I eat good grub, at the Co-op I fell in love. C-O C-O-O-P! It's an all natural dance at the Co-op. No preservatives in your romance at the Co-op. Gimme your number and I'll give you mine at the Co-op. If you do that I'll give you my sign at the Co-op.
Elite Manilla
She’s so divine. A Turpentine. A pulp emission. A used transmission. A cloudy day by the bay. Talkin’ about elite Manila, all right. Green foam, all alone. Trailer home. It's homegrown. Crow-bone. Chromosome. Talkin’ about baby’s in black, all right. She said she was “from the elite.” She said it, she said it all night. She said she was “from the elite.” She said it - 1,2,3,4! A honky-tonk, a honky-tonk, a honky-tonk.
Bright Lights
The night is dark. The rain comes down. My baby's driving on the back side of town. I know she’ll be here, no need to fear. Anticipating, because I'm waiting for those bright lights, coming down the street. Coming to get me, yeah only me. Well I’ve been waiting all of the day, and now it's dark and baby’s on her way. Her engine’s roaring full steam ahead. She’s driving me crazy - outside my head - I’m talking about those bright lights, coming down the street. Coming to get me, yeah only me. Staring out my window, shutters are wide open. Staring at the moon. Baby will be here soon. I’m talking about those bright lights, coming down the street. Coming to get me, yeah only me.
All My Friends Are Turning Parisian
All my friends are putting me down with the crazy things they do. I say “hello,” I say “good bye,” and they just say “avior doo,” and it's making me mad, so mad. Mr. Doctor, I think I've got amnesia, cause all my friends are turning Parisian. Flying through the house to drink some brew and watch old Roger Maris, they’ve got a cork screw and a bottle of champagne, and they’re singing I Love Paris. “In the winter, summer, spring time or fall, when it likes to sizzle, when it always drizzles.” Mr. Doctor, I think I've got amnesia, cause all my friends are turning Parisian. Brian changed his name to Jaques, and Virgil’s got shit on his socks. Jon says he’s doing “trey bon” eating finger licking “chickon,” and it's making me mad, so mad. Mr. Doctor, I think I've got amnesia, cause all my friends are turning Parisian.
Trinidad Mon
Flipping through the yearbook, I did see, a pretty pretty pretty pretty baby, looking up at me. I’d never seen that face before, she was only a sophomore. I searched all over the school, trying to find that jewel. I asked for the attendance sheet: said she hadn’t been there for a week. Is she gone back to Saigon? (with the Trinidad mon?) Is she gone away? I memorized that picture. I held her in my mind. I went to the brain surgeon and asked if he could find that girl in my mind. That girl in all of my mind. Is she gone back to Saigon? (with the Trinidad mon?) Is she gone away? I love her love her love her love her love her, I love her.
Everybody’s Baby
I sit at home with my head in my hand, and it lingers: why does my baby got a ring on her every finger? One from the neighbor, and two from the boy next door, three, four, and five from the guys from the defensive line. Mother better talk to your daughter, ‘cause she is everybody’s baby, she’s everybody’s girl. I take her to the football game and everybody knows her name. Five Goodyear blimps and they're reading “Won’t (will) you marry me Jane?” Mother better talk to your daughter, ‘cause she is everybody’s baby, she’s everybody’s girl. Oh I want you to talk to me. And don't you know that I really like what you do? But every thing you do, you do for the whole world too. Mother better talk to your daughter, ‘cause she is everybody’s baby, she’s everybody’s girl.
Superwoman
So you say, you want to learn how to dance? Ba-da ba ba ba-da. So you say, you want to make romance? Ba-da ba ba ba-da. You say all things you want to be, but you will always be superwoman to me. So you say, you want to be a star? Ba-da ba ba ba-da. Like a diamond, a diamond up so far? Ba-da ba ba ba-da. You say all things you want to be, but you will always be Superwoman to me. ‘Cause you're super, super, Superwoman to me, yeah! That's what you’ll be. James shaved his eyebrows off in the back alley. James still boycotts grapes grown in the Central Valley. ‘Cause you're super (super) Superwoman to me, yeah! That's what you’ll be.
Candyshop Bop
Fell in love at the candy shop when she put a quarter in and (she) started to bop. She bopped a little here, and a whole lot there. Ya bop like that, and I can only stare. Bopped all day until the sun went down. That's when my baby, she stole my frown. Bopped to the east, and she bopped to the west. Bop like that and I'll love you my best. ‘Cause a bop-bop baby: just you and me. Well bop-bop baby: just wait and see. Yeah bop-bop baby: with all your might. Well a bop-bop bopping all through the moonlight. Gonna put on my blue suede shoes. Gonna get me rock ‘n roll. l'm sick of these blues. I'm gonna twist and shout, rattle and roll. Watch out baby when I hit the floor. I'm gonna shake a hop, do a twist, any old dance I can dance like this. I'll do the jerk, brrrrrrrr, any old dance I can dance with you! ‘Cause a bop-bop baby: just you and me. Well bop-bop baby: just wait and see. Yeah bop-bop baby: with all your might. Well a bop-bop bopping all through the moonlight.
Standing In Line
I'm just standing in line watching my girl go by. Hey mister, I don't want no fries. I'm just standing in line watching my girl go by. Well bless my heart, and bless my soul, please please mama I don't wanna go. There's a little girl and she's looking at me. She's got such pretty knees. I'm just standing in line watching my girl go by. Hey mister, move to the side. Well bless my heart, and bless my soul, baby's got me out of control. Now she's walking next to me. She's got me on my knees. I'm just standing in line watching my girl go by. Bye bye baby good-bye.
Hairdoo
She’s got big big feet. She's got bigger buck teeth. She’s got bones that creak. She’s always got the flu. But I love her hairdo! See that girl walking down the street? She’s got more than weight on her feet: She’s got a hairdo, oh yeah! See that girl waiting for a train? Big black widow knawing on her brain: She’s got a hairdo, oh yeah! Hairdo, hairdo, what do you do? Every time I see you it makes me come unglued! See that girl? Her hair’s up and set. Used a whole can of Aquanet for her hairdo, on yeah! See that girl at the beauty parlor? Trying to decide what's her best color for her hairdo, on yeah! Hairdo, hairdo, what do you do? Every time I see you it makes me come unglued! Might take mousse, put it in my hair. Make my hair as big as Cher’s hairdo, oh yeah! Hairdo, hairdo, what do you do? Every time I see you it makes me come unglued!
She’s So Hot
She's so hot, l'm burning up. Up, up and away, when I kiss her lips I'm on a rocket ship. Up, up and away, gravity won't make me stay, oh no. I'm going down to see my baby. She's so hot, I'm burning up. Up, up and away with my baby, and we're never coming back again.
Hick-Up
There's a brand new dance that's going around it's called The Hick-up. It's faster than a locomotive, and a pickup. You got it in your blood, and you got it in your veins, and you got it beating back and forth directly to your brain. You got the picture? You got a hipster. Well the cats are crazy, cuz they know they'll be sweating, gonna yell for 1-2-3-4 more bar chords. Doing The Hick-up. Last time I saw you girl you were so tame. Next time I saw you, you were dancing like a hurricane. You were spinning like a top, shaking like a mop, going so fast, got pulled over by a cop. It was a stickup doing The Hick-up. Flying through the air like a prima ballerina, gonna yell for 1-2-3-4 more bar chords. doing The Hick-up. Well the cops are here, and they're banging on the door, so hold on baby, got time for one bar chord. Doing The Hick-up.
She’s Coming Over
I got a phone call from my baby yesterday, the operator said, "Do you want to pay?" Collect call, that's all, didn't get a name. I took the call ‘cuz I knew it was my dame. It was baby, and baby is nice. She was coming for my loving and I'm feeling paralyzed. Fixed the house, swept the floor, then I took down all the pictures of the girls next door.
Yeah-yeah yeah-yeah, baby's coming over. Yeah-yeah yeah-yeah, gonna kiss her one more time. Yeah-yeah yeah-yeah, flew in from Saratoga, pick her up in Anaheim. Go go baby let's go GoGoGoGo! Driving down the freeway no time for red lights, I gotta pick up my baby before her flight. Too much change in the x-ray machine, now I'm being frisked by a mean marine. Go go baby baby let's go!
What Do You Get?
What do you get? What do you get? When you put gum in your best friends’ hair? When you put a tack on your teacher's chair? Push your little sister down the stairs? What do you get? What do you get? When you knock down your neighbors’ chimes? Steal a quarter from the March Of Dimes? Speak out for the mimes? What do you get? What do you get? When you put sand in your dads lube? Call your best friend a “goob”? Write a song called “Hey Jude”?
Archangel (Because I Love Her)
She don't talk back to me. She don't mess around. It is plain to see she's been sporting a certain kind of gown because I love her, oh I love her. Ooh she loves me. Ooh it's plain to see. Ever since I met her down on 4th and Vine, she's always on time. She is my baby, she is my knack. We never wear Esprit, we never dress in black, because I love her. I go my way, she go my way too, it's o.k. cuz I am no guru, because I love her, oh I love her.
Mystery Train
(Adaptation of Mystery Train by Junior Parker)
Train I ride, sixteen coaches long. Well it took my baby. Never gonna take her again (but she is mine all mine). Train train, coming ‘round the bend. Well it took my baby. Never gonna take her again. Train train train. Texas! It’s that long black train comin’ round the bend. Well it took my baby (but she is mine all mine). Never gonna take her again.
Hey, Stop!
Hey, stop, pretty baby, there’s something I wanna say. The way you’re behaving is making me save money for a rainy day. Because I only want something, like your loving, or there’s nothing worthwhile, like your smile when you’re looking down at me from above. Well, I'm in love. Let’s go out on a date. Hey, stop, pretty baby, there’s something I wanna say. I’ve been lying ‘bout all those things I say, because I don’t want your lovin’, I don’t want something when there’s nothing to me baby when it’s crazy to believe that from above, I’d find love. Let’s go out on a date. Hey, stop, pretty baby, there’s something I wanna say. The way you’re behaving is making me save money for a rainy day. Because I only want something, like your loving, or there’s nothing worthwhile, like your smile when you’re looking straight at me from above. Well, I'm in love. Let’s go out on a date.
Closer to the Equator (Brian and Virgil improvising)
My new glasses, they're getting closer, to the equator. And Standish Hickey, it's getting closer to the equator. And every step I take, I get a little closer too.
